MABANK–The new Mabank Lady Panthers varsity girls’ soccer head coach Ashton Norman was welcomed on Friday, Aug. 4, as well as the returning JV girls’ soccer head coach Stephanie Smith at the First Baptist Church in Mabank.
Turn-out for the meet and greet was a success with incoming freshmen as well as veteran players getting to visit with both coaches and ask any questions they might have.
The reception was hosted by Jill Pridgen, LeeAnn Conway and Nicoli Hinkle. Homemade tarts, breads and more were provided by Jacey Pridgen.
The Lady Panthers varsity team looks to build off an exciting 2016 season in which they went 19-6 overall.
That record includes an 11-1 record in district. Mabank’s offense was on-point last season with 106 goals for with only 26 goals against.
They advanced to the second round of the UIL 2017 Girls State Soccer Championship with an exhilarating 5-4 shootout win against Princeton before bowing out to Athens, 4-2.
The soccer season kicks off with school tryouts in November followed by games starting in January.
