Both Kemp ISD honor bands from the high school and junior high school advanced to the state level in the Outstanding Performance Series auditions to select the most outstanding band programs in Texas. Band directors submitted their UIL recordings to a panel of judges in the region against bands in a larger area, and Kemp bands advanced, according to results posted this past weekend at the Texas Bandmasters Convention.
Kemp High School Honor Band placed sixth and 12th with Blalock Canyon March and Moscow. The Kemp Junior High Honor Band placed fifth and eighth with Heroes Triumphant and Big Sky Round-up. Band director Marc Christy said, “This is huge news and we are so proud of the hard work our students continue to do! Way to go Kemp bands!”
