Memorial services for Elsie Levera Kennedy, of Kemp, will be held Saturday, July 26, 2014, at 3 p.m. at Eubank Cedar Creek Memorial Chapel with Rev. Tom Sharon officiating.
Elsie was born Sept. 28, 1936, in Cloudland, Georgia, to parents Joseph and Lorine Sisimore Ott, and entered into eternal rest on July 19, 2014, at the age of 77.
Elsie was known to her family and friends as “Levera.” She was very close with her family. Levera spent her early childhood growing up in Georgia, in the mountains.
She attended high school in Dallas. Levera lived in Galveston in the 1950s when her children were small.
She earned her license as a cosmetologist and worked as a hairstylist in Irving in the early ’70s.
Levera loved Elvis and crocheting. She was a big fan of Pat Boone and even got to meet him once.
Daily, Levera would work the New York Times crossword and loved Suduko. She was an avid golfer, as well as a member of the Cedar Creek Country Club ladies group.
Levera was also a member of Cedar Creek Women’s Club, Cedar Creek Civic League and the Presbyterian Woman’s Group.
She was a faithful member of the Presbyterian Church of Mabank for over 20 years. Levera was a very loving and caring lady who will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Levera was preceded in death by her parents, husband Richard Kennedy, whom she had been married to for over 25 years before his passing, sister Sarah Belle Goins and brother Larry Ott.
She is survived by her sons, Jimmy “Button” Holloway and wife Jackie of Phoenix, Ariz., Chuck Holloway and wife Patricia of Bedford, Richard Kennedy and wife Colleen of Illinois and Ted Kennedy of Saginaw; daughters Kathy Medders and husband Bill of Holy Lake Ranch, Sue Miller and husband Morgan of Dewight, Ill.; grandchildren Jennifer, Jeramie, Christy, Meredith, Chad and Sarah; great-grandchildren Hannah, Chase, Taylor, Alli and RayLan; sisters Jewel Tibbets and Louella Steiner; brother Howard “Buddy” Ott; a host of extended family and friends.
