KEMP–Forty-four Kemp High School Band students competed at the UIL Solo and Ensemble Contest Feb. 8 in Mesquite and earned 39 first division medals.
Each student put in hours of hard work and practice time preparing for the contest.
Students earning a first division medal include Taylor Hennig (two medals), Courtney Putman, Ryder Busby, Grace Camacho, Emily Mullens, Maricruz Villanueva, Logan Hall, Leia Cantrell, Nikki Fisher, James Floyd, Rebeca Galvez (two), Cameron Polk (two), Hannah Polk, Emily Kelley, Sly Blankenship, Allie DeClue, Taylor Little, Lauren Baumgartner, Abigail Bell (two), Zach Carrington (two), Alec Cooper (two), Beau Dancer, Kim Gardner, Micah Polk, Rhonda Harper (two), Mason Hyde, Kyle Keathley, Kari Mast, Jesse Morton, Amanda Sparks and Dilan Tanner.
Twenty-five of the band students who participated in the UIL Solo and Ensemble Contest advance to the UIL State contest in May.
Students advancing to State include Lauren Baumgartner, Abigail Bell (two events), Zach Carrington, Alec Cooper, Beau Dancer, Kim Gardner, Micah Polk, Rhonda Harper, Mason Hyde, Kyle Keathley, Kari Mast, Jesse Morton, Amanda Sparks, Dilan Tanner, Emily Kelley, Sly Blankenship, Allie DeClue, Taylor Little, Rebeca Galvez, Cameron Polk (two events), Taylor Hennig (two events), Leia Cantrell, Nikki Fisher, Ryder Busby and Micah Polk.
