KEMP–The playoff bound Kemp Lady Yellowjackets used an energized fourth quarter to secure a 46-36 win over the Life Red Oak Lady Mustangs Feb. 4 in their last home game of the year.
Kemp took the early lead after the first quarter of play, scoring 11 points to Life Red Oak’s 7.
The Lady Mustangs closed the point spread in the second quarter, scoring 11 points and holding Kemp to 9, making the score 20-18, Kemp’s advantage.
The Lady ’Jackets tacked on two more points to their spread in the third quarter, scoring 9 and holding Life Red Oak to 7, for a 29-25 lead.
Kemp secured the win in the fourth quarter scoring 17 points and holding the Lady Mustangs to 11 for the 46-36 final score.
Leading scorers for Kemp were Bree Weisinger with 21 points, Shelby Rodrigues, 8; Audra Jonas, 5; Bri DeGrate, 5; Madison Kerr, 5 and Nikki Fischer, 2.
Leading rebounders were DeGrate with 8, Weisinger,8; Jonas,6; Rodrigues, 5; Kerr, 3; Fischer, 2 and Zajac, 1.
On defense, DeGrate and Weisinger had 5 steals each and Kerr 4. DeGrate led Kemp with 6 assists.
