The men of the Mabank Volunteer Fire Department take a load off their tootsies before taking up the banner to lead the inaugural “Walk a Mile in Her Shoes” march June 2 around the Athens Courthouse Square to raise funds and awareness for the East Texas Crisis Center and to tell other men domestic violence is “unmanly.”

CEDAR CREEK LAKE–Looking back, 2013 seemed an odd year with many months possessing five Mondays, Tuesdays or Wednesdays, etc. However, since according to the doomsayers who felt the Mayan Calendar predicted the world’s end at 12-21-2012, we are lucky to have had 2013 at all.
