Special to The Monitor
GUN BARREL CITY–The Henderson County 4-H Clover Kids sang Christmas Carols and rang the Salvation Army Bell in front of Walmart Dec. 7.
Despite the cold, the children sang and thanked everyone who dropped donations in the red bucket.
The Clover Kids met Dec. 15, and Laura Ashley Childress and her brother, Andrew from Cedar Creek Home Schoolers 4-H Club were the guest speakers.
Laura spoke about the County Fashion Show and the Clothing and Textiles Project.
The show is open to all 4-H members and entries are due in the Extension Office on Monday, Feb. 24, 2014.
The County Fashion Show and Roundup is Saturday, March 1, 2014.
Using props and examples of her past entries, Laura presented useful information.
Andrew gave a demonstration of his Strawberry Spinach Salad with Chicken entry for the Food Show.
He explained how to prepare the almonds with butter and sugar as well as the chicken and the nutritional values of all the ingredients.
Laura also conducted a mock interview as if she was a judge during the Food Show, asking her brother several questions he may be asked at the Food Show.
Food Show entries are due in the Extension Office on Friday, Jan. 3, 2014.
The County Food Show will be Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014.
