MABANK–The Cedar Creek Lake area is receiving a special Christmas gift when Dallas-Fort Worth Channel 8 WFAA televison nightly news anchor Gloria Campos will be the guest narrator for the Community Christmas Concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14 at Mabank High School auditorium.
The program is fun for the entire family and admission for each person is a canned good for donation to the Family Resource Center.
Campos has received numerous professional achievement awards for her journalism. She has also been recognized for her tireless advocacy of education, women’s, and family issues.
For 20 years, Campos has reported and produced WFAA’s weekly Wednesday’s child segment and has given her support to the non-profit “Friends of Wednesday’s Child,” which helps provide services to thousands of children in North Texas foster homes.
Campos and her husband, Lance, reside part-time in the Cedar Creek Lake area.
More than 100 singers representing seven area choirs will present the Christmas cantata, Season of Praise, by Joseph M. Martin.
Children from the Dance Connection of Mabank will also be showcased in the cantata performance.
The Bell Choir from Payne Springs United Methodist Church and the Celebration Ensemble from Celebration on the Lake Church will perform. During the concert, the audience will have a chance to join in singing familiar Christmas carols.
Everyone in the community is invited to attend. It will be a great evening to celebrate the spirit of the season!
