KEMP– Nothing is better than a close, 5-game win to put the icing on the cake for senior night in Kemp Oct. 8. That’s exactly what happened, as the Kemp Lady ’Jackets defeated district rival Life-Red Oak 25-23, 24-26, 25-21, 22-25 and 15-10.
It was a big game, not just for the Kemp girl’s memories, as they entered with their families in front of fans, but also in the standings. Kemp and Life-Red Oak are neck-and neck, challenging for second place and a district playoff spot.
After the Life-Red Oak game, Eustace is undefeated in first place at 10-0. Palmer and Scurry Rosser are tied at 8-3, while Life-Red Oak and Kemp’s records are 7-3 and 7-4, respectively. There are only three playoff sports, so each win, especially against contenders, is especially big.
Kemp returns to volleyball action Friday, Oct. 18 against the struggling Hampton Prep after a bye on Oct. 15. Kemp’s toughest opponents are already behind them, as the next four games the Lady ’Jackets will test their might against the bottom four teams in the district (Malakoff, 4-6, Life – Dallas, 3-8, Hampton Prep, 1-10, and Faith Family 0-11).
