Kemp takes big win in Scurry-Rosser

The Kemp Lady ’Jackets volleyball team defeated rival Scurry-Rosser 3-2 on Oct. 1 to improve their district record to 6-3 on the year, cementing them in third place in the standings.
Scurry-Rosser came out in game one with the first win, capturing a decisive 25-15 victory. Kemp came storming back in game two, winning 25-19 to tie it at one game apiece. Scurry-Rosser then took game three 25-18 and brought Kemp one game away from losing the match. That’s when the Lady ’Jackets turned on the heat. Game four was a hard fought 25-21 victory for Kemp and the closest match of the night. Kemp went on to win the tie breaker game 15-8 to take home the win.
Statistically, Dezi Dowd led Kemp with 10 digs and added one ace, Bree Weisinger had four kills and four blocks, Emille Weisinger had eight assists, three aces and one kill. Audra Jonas led Kemp with eight kills, and added four blocks and one ace. Haley McNutt had two digs, and Lucy Anderson had three kills and six digs. Kelsey Lamb led the team with 10 assists and added six digs and two kills. Shelby Rodriguez led Kemp with four aces and added two kills and three digs.
Kemp Lady ’Jackets volleyball will be back in action Oct. 8 at home against Life Oak Cliff for Senior Night. Varsity game time is 6:30 p.m.
