MABANK–The Mabank Lady Panthers lost their district opening volleyball game to the visiting district champion Van Lady Vandals Tuesday.
It took Van four games to get the job done, and gave them a hard time at every turn.
Mabank won the first set, 25-22, in impressive fashion as they came back from a 13-6 deficit to take the win.
Van rallied, winning the next three games – 25-15, 25-17 and 25-16.
“We just had trouble with our mental game,” Mabank head coach Stacy Shelton said. “The girls never gave up and battled well.”
Madison Holyfield had a strong game, racking up five kills, an ace serve and two digs.
Mikayla Adams had four kills, a block and a dig. Kelci Hill had three kills, three digs and an ace serve.
Meagan Holyfield had 15 assists, three digs and a kill.
The Lady Panthers return to action Tuesday as they travel to Canton to face the Eaglettes.
