Carleton Smith, Jr.

Grave side services and interment with honors for Carleton “Smitty” Smith, Jr., 81, of Malakoff, were held Sept. 23, 2013 at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery with Jim Lamb officiating.
Smith was born May 2, 1932, in Andover, Md., to Doris Axon and Carleton Richard Smith, Sr., and died Sept. 18, 2013, in Tyler.
He served in the United States Air Force for 22 years. He was very proud of his military service.
He moved to Malakoff in 1984. He was a member of Leagueville Baptist Church. He was a very good handyman and loved doing projects around the house. He enjoyed barbecuing and watching the Texas Rangers.
He was preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey, and sister Pat.
Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Martha Smith, of Malakoff; son Craig Smith of Hurst; stepson Matt Scales of Frisco; stepdaughter Melinda Norris of Austin; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
