Church was born June 8, 1927, and died June 25, 2013.
He was known as the “Dairy Queen Dude of GBC” and the “Turtle Hat Man” of the lake area bingo halls.
He served his country during World War II and lived in the Cedar Creek Lake area since 1980.
Before moving to Gun Barrel City, he lived in Duncanville. He worked for Montgomery Wards for 25 years at the Wynnewood Shopping Center in Oak Cliff.
Survivors include his wife, Pam Church of Prairieville; children Edwina Hollywood, Mike Church and wife Rachel, all of Plano, Robert Church and wife Bobbi or Farmersville, Pat Genzer and husband Larry of Friendswood, Gary Church and wife Kathy of Gun Barrel City; grandchildren Michael, Rebecca, Robby and Candice Church, Laura and Adam Genzer; first wife Hazel Bowden of Payne Springs; extended family residing in New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas.
