A throwback to the 1800s – Mountain Man competition brings following to lake area

Danny Meazell of Tyler is one of many who participated in the 14th annual Texas State Knife and Tomahawk Championship held April 13-14, in Malakoff. The event is listed in the 2008 Guinness Book of World Records as the largest Mountain Man throwing event in the world. Charles Weems, former Malakoff resident and member of the Cedar Creek Knife and Hawk Club organizes the annual event, which attracts participants of all ages. Wearing pre-1840 garb is required of all contestants.
