GUN BARREL CITY–A new venue for music and live entertainment has come to Cedar Creek Lake.
GBC Music, replacing the former Lake City Music store on State Highways 198 and 334 in Gun Barrel City, opened recently under new management and a new lease on life in the Valero Plaza.
Owner Dino Perelli, originally from Las Vegas, is a lifelong musician and entertainer who has been living and performing in the Cedar Creek Lake area for nine years.
“I was very disappointed in what clubs around the lake had to offer,” Dino lamented. “No one seemed to give a hoot about production value. They would just clear away a section of floor space, or maybe build a small stage, add three or four colored spotlights to point at the band, and that was it!”
“After spending over 30 years in Las Vegas and playing some of the best venues in the world, I saw an opportunity to create something special here,” Perelli added.
That something special includes a 75-seat show room called The Venue at GBC Music. Not only will it contain a wall-to-wall stage, he added a whole array of professional stage lighting and professional sound system. There will be sound, video and light operators as well.
“My crew is from Las Vegas and have more than 50 years combined experience in the audio/video industry,” Perelli said.
“William Johnson will be The Venue manager and Paul Gilford will be the assistant manager. They know all about how to make talent look and sound right!”
To add the icing on the cake, Perelli is installing a permanent, four-camera video system with live switching, which can be used to stream video to the Internet, during the concerts.
The entertainment schedule includes pop and rock, country, jazz and even comedians!
The Venue will host original music acts, mostly from Texas, who have a CD out. Show time is at 8 p.m. on Saturdays. Once a month, a “Dinner & A Show” format will feature music, comedy and a buffet catered by a local restaurant.
Fridays will feature various “Tribute Bands” and other local bands. The Venue will carry a full line of adult beverages as well as a snack menu.
The venue is also available for private parties and weddings.
There is also a complete music store on the 4,000-square-foot facility with new and used instruments for sale. An assortment of music lessons, and seminars, as well as a band rental program are also part of the offerings, as is a musicians referral service.
Future plans call for commercial audio/video services, including home theater design and installation.
GBC Music carries drums, guitars, keyboards, amps, PA gear and anything else musicians need, as well as a selection of T-shirts and other apparel, including gifts designed for musicians! Musician and entrepreneur Lane Clark will manage the musical instrument side of the store.
In addition, GBC Music will include a complete 24-track studio for recording simple demos to complete albums. Everything for performing and recording music can be found at GBC Music, including professional session players, copies of CDs, artwork, photography, and even help with sales and distribution.
GBC Music is located at 111 N. Gun Barrel Lane in Gun Barrel City. Hours of operation are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday-Saturday, closed on Sundays.
