CORPUS CHRISTI–Eustace Lady Bulldog Region II powerlifting champion and two-year state qualifier Casey Bramblitt competed in the women’s state powerlifting meet in Corpus Christi March 16.
She was ranked second going into the event, and was in prime position to fight for first place.
After a hard day at the toughest judged meet in the state, she placed sixth, just 15 pounds away from third. Bramblitt’s regional meet lifts would have landed her a third place finish at state.
“She just had a tough day. Although she didn’t reach her goal to be state champion, she is far from a failure and I congratulate her in every way,” head powerlifting coach Rich Risner said.
“For the rest of the year she will continue to lead her softball and track teams to victory.”
After graduation Bramblitt will attend Sam Houston State University on a full scholarship attaining her degree in criminal justice. She will be active in the ROTC program before she joins the Army.
