Mary Hicks

Hicks was born July 23, 1925, to Lucy Belle and Hulbert L. Allison in Mabank, and died Feb. 12, 2013.
She graduated from Texas State College for Women, now TWU, in Denton, with a degree in bacteriology.
She moved to San Antonio to work in the laboratory that is now part of the Baptist Health System.
She married, reared six children, and worked and contributed to the welfare of the people of San Antonio her entire life.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Gene S. Hicks, parents, and brothers Tom and Alan Allison, both of Mabank.
Survivors include her sons, Sid Hicks of Granbury, Jeff Hicks of San Antonio; daughters Linda Sherwood of Malvern, Pa., Cindy Williams of San Antonio, Laura Williamson of Abilene, and Susan Gassiot of San Angelo; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; brother J. C. Hicks and wife Reba of Frankston; sister-in-law Bonnie Nichols Allison of Kaufman; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Fund or the Wounded Warrior Project.
