MABANK–Although the Mabank Lady Panthers lost their bi-district playoff game to Spring Hill by a score of 58-50 Monday, head coach Ashleigh Weeaks sees plenty to look forward to next year.
Against Spring Hill, she feels the game came down to execution of the game plan.
“Our girls played very hard against Spring Hill. They gave it all they had and more, they just came up short at the end. Spring Hill had a good game plan coming into the game, and I thought we had a good game plan as well, they just executed theirs a little bit better than we did,” Weeaks said.
“I thought for a ‘re-building year’ that it was pretty good,” Weeaks explained. “Am I happy with the way the season ended, not at all, but I feel like we got better every game and every practice, and that’s what we were trying to do.”
Some could argue the Lady Panthers were young this year, inexperienced.
Next year, nobody will have the perspective.
“I expect great things from next year. We will not have any excuses of being ‘young’ or ‘inexperienced.’ We should have some great leaders on next year’s team mixed with young talent,” she commented.
