Wandmaker was born Dec. 31, 1948, to Fannie Mae (Crim) and Frank Durant Sr., and died Feb. 11, 2013, at her home.
She attended college at Ben Taub Hospital as an x-ray technician and met the love of her life, John, whom she married on horseback.
She worked at the original Kaufman Hospital and retired from Presbyterian Hospital of Kaufman. During her career, she always put the patient first.
She was known for her warm smile and kind heart. She enjoyed reading, gardening, and cooking with her sister.
She was a very giving person and when she was not working, she volunteered at church. She was also a courageous breast cancer survivor and proved to be tiny but tough through her battle.
She was outspoken at times but had a kind heart.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Ron Creel and sister Mary Keaton.
Survivors include her husband of 40 years, John, of Kemp; son Jonathan Wandmaker and wife Amber of Prairieville; grandson Matthew Wandmaker; granddaughters Harley Dickerson and Emma Sanders; mother Dorothy Durant; sister Glynda Scott and husband Myron of Seagoville; brothers Marty Durant and wife Dierdre of Forney and Frank Durant and wife Sandy of Hideaway; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
