KEMP–The Cedar Creek Country Club was filled with nearly 100 ladies from the Cedar Creek Lake Women’s Club excitedly anticipating a humorous and lively performance by Texas entertainer Dave Tanner.
Tanner has a full and varied musical resume including more than 300 radio and television commercials, eight films as an actor including the Oscar winning The Trip to Bountiful and as Paul Harvey’s researcher for The Rest of the Story.
Children may also be familiar with Tanner as Farmer Dooley with Barney the Dinosaur.
Currently, Tanner is the KAAM Morning Drive host at “Legends 770.”
After the buffet meal of green salad, tomato bisque soup, and twice baked potato, Tanner sang songs from the past known for making ladies swoon.
Included in those unforgettable and quickly identifiable songs were Only You, The Twelfth of Never, Misty Moonlight, I Can’t Help Falling in Love with You, It Had to be You and You Send Me.
Tanner also impressed with the history of the songs, the year produced and a Spanish version of Before the Next Tear Drop Falls.
“He is so wonderful. He plays tirelessly for hours,” Cedar Creek Woman’s Club member and avid ballroom dancer Vanetta Miller said. “He is my favorite musician to dance to,” Miller added.
Tanner, in his 40 years as a full-time entertainer, has performed for European royalty, leaders of business and industry, five Texas governors and three United States presidents.
He is a fifth generation musician from Gainsville and currently resides in Irving with his wife, Gina, and son Erik.
