Services for Ralph Allen Lacy, 88, of Kemp, were held Jan. 23, 2013, at Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home.
Lacy was born March 15, 1924, in Henderson County, to Helen and Ben Lacy and died Jan. 20, 2013.
He lived in Henderson County all his life and married Helen Greenhaw March 31, 1944.
He served overseas during World War II, returning to Mabank to raise a family.
He was a lifetime rancher and cattleman, and one of the last real “cow” men of his era. His legacy reflects his great love of the land, beauty of nature, growing trees, gardens, flowers and raising cattle.
He was a kind and generous “granddad,” who always had a good story to tell, especially if it involved family history or cattle.
He had a good sense of humor and was a tremendous encourager to his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, Ben K. Lacy, sisters Hilda Box, Jackie Killian and Marjorie Storey, and brother Pat Lacy.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Helen Lacy; daughters Alana Lacy Nowell and husband David of Kemp, Lauren Jo Lacy of Austin; son Ralph Lowell Lacy and wife Rose of Quitman; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brother Bill Lacy of Payne Springs; and daughter-in-law Sandra Lacy of Kemp.
Pallbearers included his grandsons, Ronald Nelson, Martin Whitton, Matthew Whitton, John Lacy, Allen Lacy and Justin Lacy.
