Leroy Roberts

Roberts was born Jan. 4, 1918, in Kaufman County, to Dora (Dosier) and Ed Roberts Sr., and died Jan. 19, 2013.
He was known as a story teller and he wrote and sang his own song at his 90th birthday celebration.
He loved children, was a fruit and vegetable vendor and enjoyed farming.
He was a truck driver, and his wife and son kept the farm going while he was on the road.
He was a member of First Assembly of God in Eustace and the Golden Agers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Thurman Roberts and Ed Roberts Jr., and sisters Delveana Roberts, Veleta Clark and Pearl Roberts.
Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Mary Wheat Roberts; son Steve Roberts and wife Tammy of Lee’s Summit, Mo.; daughters Marilyn Armstrong of Rowlett, Geneva Sipes and husband Elmer of Kemp; grandchildren Crystal, Kyle, Rodney, Sandy, Ricky, Susan, Tracy, Sabrena, Tonya, Jerry; 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; brother Albert Roberts; sister Jeanette Roberts; numerous nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
