MABANK–Turnovers helped the visiting Mexia Blackcats secure a 39-37 win over the Mabank Panthers Tuesday.
The ’Cats took a 15-8 lead after the first period, but the Panther offense charged into action in the second, outscoring Mexia, 13-12.
The third period was all defense, as Mexia only mustered six points, but Mabank scored just two.
Mabank began closing the gap in the fourth period, outscoring Mexia 14-6, but it wasn’t enough to make up the difference.
David Marler scored 13 points for Mabank, while Parker Johannesen scored seven.
Garrett Graham, Landon Marshall and Cody Thompson each scored four points for Mabank.
The Panthers are set to compete in the Paris Holiday Tournament Dec. 27-29, and will host Quinlan-Ford Jan. 4.
