Elmer Hix

Elmer HixServices for Elmer Lovel Hix, 88, of Mabank, were held Dec. 7, 2012, at the Eubank Cedar Creek Memorial Chapel with Rev. Brent Tucker and Rev. David Pirkle officiating. Interment followed in the Eubank Cedar Creek Memorial Park.
Hix was born May 2, 1924, to Mary Jane and Nathan Hix in Gainesboro, Tenn., and died Dec. 5, 2012.
He served in the United States Army Air Corp during World War II, and was a master electrician for Mobil Oil.
He maintained the flying red horse on the Magnolia Building in Dallas until his retirement in 1982.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mabank, where he served as an ordained Deacon for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Earnest and Arthur Hix.
Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Dorothy Hix; daughters Pat Myers and husband Paul of Canton, Linda Mullin and husband Lynn of Irving; granddaughters Stephanie Jordan, Shelly Pirkle and Jennifer Carlile; great-grandchildren Cody, Kaycee, Zachariah and Bella; brother Carmel Lee Hix; many other loving family members and friends.
