Gaylia  ChambersServices for Gaylia Vanessa Chambers, 55, were held Dec. 6, 2012, in the Anderson-Clayton Bros. Chapel with Rev. Wayne Gilcrease of the First Baptist Church of Kleberg. Interment followed in Kemp Cemetery.
Chambers was born April 22, 1957, in Dallas County, to Willie Oneta Wedgeworth and Vance Preston Matthews and died Dec. 2, 2012, with her loving family by her side.
She attended Kemp schools before moving to the Dallas area. She was the light of the world to her family and an extraordinary homemaker to her husband and family.
She enjoyed traveling to casinos, trying her luck at the slot machines, camping and fishing with her family.
She spent a great deal of time at her daughters’ and grandchildren’s school drill team events, school plays, field trips and award assemblies.
She enjoyed three-way calling with her sisters to keep up with the latest gossip and gab. She was a wonderful cook and passed on her cooking recipes and techniques to her children.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Steve Preston Matthews.
Survivors include her loving husband of 33 years, Roger Chambers; daughters Brandy Crecy and husband Chad of Mesquite, Carrie Tarkington and husband Aaron of Forney and Crystal Bolin and husband Robert of Garland; grandchildren Eric, Little Chad, Kali, Meagan, Tyler, Jordan, Calion and Abbigail; brother David Matthews of Dallas; sisters Patsy Tijernia and husband Monico of Kaufman, Joyce Bednar and husband John of Kemp, Yvonne Carrier and husband Gary of Seagoville; cousin Tootsie; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
