Robert Harris

Robert HarrisServices for Robert “Bob” Harris, 100, of Mabank, were held Nov. 13, 2012, at the Huckabee/Tomlinson Funeral Home in Seven Points, with Ken Maddox officiating.
Harris was born Feb. 28, 1912, in Balch Springs, to Clara and John Harris and died Nov. 10, 2012, in Mabank.
He served in World War II, stationed on a group of islands known as OWl, where he refueled aircraft on runways and drove 16-wheelers. He also worked as a truck driver for Frozen Food Express, traveling 48 states.
His favorite place to drive was through “The Great Divide.” He was a beloved and faithful member of Beacon Church of Christ in Gun Barrel City, for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife of more than 42 years, Ova, second wife of 29 years, Donnie, brothers Stanley, Burney, and Wallace, and sisters Eleanor, Velma, Alice, Mae and Dessie.
Survivors include his stepsons, Scott and Charles Johnstone, and their families; numerous nieces and nephews; and special care giver Pat Halpain.
