Jimmie TinsleyServices for Jimmie R. Tinsley, 89, of Gun Barrel City, were held Nov. 9, 2012, at the First Presbyterian Church in Mabank under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home with Reverend Amy Hunt officiating. Interment followed at Wilson Chapel.
Tinsley was born April 27, 1923, in Jiba, to Katy (Miller) and John Wesley Tinsley and died Nov. 6, 2012.
He was a longtime rancher in Kaufman County and enjoyed golfing, fishing and hunting.
He was a past Worshipful Master of Cedar Creek Lake Masonic Lodge 1431 and a member of the Scottish Rite. He was a 32nd degree Mason and received the Golden Trowel Award.
He was also an ordained Deacon and a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Mabank.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1940-45 with two and a half years of combat in the European Theatre during World War II. He retired from Collins Rockwell.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Keller Tinsley, and sisters Emma Lou Stark and Charlene Stevens.
Survivors include his loving wife of 66 years, June Tinsley, of Gun Barrel City; son Jim Tinsley Jr. and wife Marilyn of Kaufman; daughter Rev. Julie Kae Sigars and husband Chuck of Lynnwood, Wash.; grandchildren Jimmie “Trey” Rowe Tinsley III, Beth Sigars Beauchamp, John Luke Sigars; brother Sid Tinsley of Palm Springs, Calif.; sisters Freda Wallace of Lewisville, Launa Patton of Fort Worth; numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and many friends.
