Gracie Smith

Services for Gracie Florene Smith, 90, of Kemp, were held Oct. 10, 2012, at Calvary Baptist with Rev. Jim Renfro and Rev. Hershell Smith officiating. Interment followed at Ola Cemetery in Kaufman.
Smith was born Jan. 1, 1922, in Kaufman County, to Nettie Mae (Hollingsworth) and Jefferson Bryant Glenn and died Oct. 6, 2012.
She married Henry Hershell Smith in Rand, Jan. 7, 1939, and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church near Seven Points. She loved her church and Sunday School Class.
She loved to travel and see God’s beautiful country. She also enjoyed attending church, reading the Bible and visits from her children and family.
The legacy she would like to leave is for everyone to know God and know that God loves them.
She is preceded in death by her husband, and daughter Sara Elizabeth.
Survivors include her sons, Hershell and wife Phileta, Sammy and wife Judith, David and wife Tina, Macon and wife Darla of Kemp, Jerry and wife Judy of Edgewood, James and wife Joann of Quitman; daughters Nettie Nelson and husband Austin, Mary Whitten and Billy of Kemp, Dorothy Bednar, Shirley Stamper of Kaufman, Vivian Vickery and husband Donny, Lillian Burkey of Longview, Helen Roberts and husband Roy of Jasper; 59 grandchildren; 109 great-grandchildren and 54 great-great-grandchildren; sister Jo Williams; brother Lonnie Glenn; sisters-in-law Anna Lou Taylor and Vera Toland; brother-in-law Elvis Smith; nieces and nephews and many friends.
