Dale BeaversServices for Shirley “the Colonel” Dale Beaver, 81, were held Oct. 5, 2012, at First Baptist Church of Tool. A celebration of life followed at VFW Post 4376, in Seven Points.
Beavers was born May 12, 1931, in Arkansas, to Cora (Soloman) and Harvey Beavers and died Oct. 1, 2012.
He was reared in Marthaville, La., and graduated LSU University with a degree in agriculture in 1952.
He joined the United States Air Force in August 1952, and married Mary Aline Beavers.
He was best known for his quick wit, telling larger than life stories and his love for his family. He was much loved by his friends at Cedar Creek Lake and especially all his fellow veterans at the Seven Points VFW Post 4376.
He was a proud member of the Aley United Methodist Church in Tool.
His favorite things included fishing, beer, Jim Beam, his family and telling tall tales.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Dorothy, brothers Jerry, Tom and Bill, second wife, Irene, and sons-in-law Martin Nealon and Sal Zavala.
Survivors include his daughters, Susan Brown, and husband David, Kathryn Lynn Nealon, Laura Kay Reinhold and her husband Bryan Scott, Mary Beth Laakso and husband David; 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
The family extends their thanks to the VFW Ladies Auxiliary for all their help and support.
